Every one of us le arned something about racism from somewhere — family stories\, church tr aditions\, school lessons\, neighborhood norms\, media\, silence\, avoidan ce\, fear\, or “politeness.” Those messages formed us. And when they g o unnamed or unexamined\, they shape how we show up in conversations about race today: what we fear\, what we protect\, what we assume\, and what we avoid.\nWhen our early socialization goes unchecked\, we don’t make mea ning out of what we inherited — and that makes honest\, constructive con versations about racism feel confusing\, tense\, or overwhelming.
