"No More Church As Usual" speaks to the necessity of change for the spiritual growth of the Christian Church. Although it is and will get even more uncomfortable at times, it is necessary for the church to focus on attracting God to our worship rather than focusing on attracting people. Because God is doing a new thing in our lives, thus in our churches -- and we either do not see it, or see it but ignore it -- it is time for us to discern the movement of God and experiment with church differently and unusually, to bring about lasting change for God's glory. In our pursuit to effectively reach the people God wants and sends us to reach with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our creativity, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, oscillates from inviting us into and screaming to us: "No More Church As Usual!"
Join us as we learn from Rev. David Trott, Sr. Prayerfully, we will leave this gathering with a sense of what “No More Church As Usual” looks like; why we are being called to this new chapter; how "No More Church As Usual" fits into what God is already doing in the world; and how we can help each other move from having brave conversations into trusting God AND taking the necessary steps to explore "No More Church As Usual" in tangible and meaningful ways.
Pastor David Trott, Sr., affectionately known as Pastor David, has led Peace Lutheran Church in Paget, Bermuda, since September 2017, bringing with him 14 years of pastoral experience from Georgia, USA. His education includes an Associate’s degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, a Bachelor of Arts from Point Park University, and a Master’s of Divinity from Turner Theological Seminary. Pastor David’s ministry is enriched by leadership roles in youth ministry, music, and Christian education since his teenage years.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Pastor David is involved with the ELCA, contributing to the Strategic Planning team, Racial Equity Team, and Worship Team of the Metro Washington DC Synod. He also serves as a founding member of the Atlanta Chapter of the African Descent Lutheran Association and is a certified ELCA coach. His ministry focuses on inclusivity, spiritual growth, dynamic community engagement, and relationship development, emphasizing servant-leadership. He and Camille Trott will be married for 30 years in May of this year.
