Sara Funkhouser (she/her) is a lifelong Lutheran who transplanted from Minnesota to the Pacific Northwest for internship and fell in love with the PNW. She is an ordained Lutheran pastor and serves a small congregation in North Seattle as a solo pastor. Sara also serves as the Coach Coordinator for the Northwest Washington Synod, in addition to serving on Synod Council, the board for Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Washington, and the Churchwide Committee on Discipline.
When she was younger, Sara thought she was going to be a Civil Engineer, destined to build bridges, and then realized that God was calling her to build a different kind of bridge. This sense of bridge-building and connecting intentionally with our communities grounds her approach to both coaching and pastoral leadership. She firmly believes that coaching can help us move forward with our goals, especially when we are feeling stuck, leaning into the gifts and skills God has already empowered us with.
When she is not coaching or at church, Sara can be found bouldering, reading, volunteering at her local elementary school and Aquarium, watching women’s sports, or finding other adventures to go on with her wife!

Vision: Nobody Journeys Alone
Coaches connect dreams to concrete actions that create change for individuals and congregations.
The ELCA's offices are located on the ancestral homelands of the Peoria, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Myaamia (Miami), Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux), Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk), and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) tribal nations. We give thanks for their presence here since time immemorial.
