On Wednesday, March 22, we heard from Rev. Jeff Linman. The past 3 years have taken a huge toll on the spirit of faith leaders and the congregations we serve. As we seek to endure COVID's grip and prepare to thrive beyond it -- or beyond any congregational challenge -- the faith and spirit of rostered and lay leaders will have a significant impact on the outcome of any congregational renewal efforts. With a backdrop of an obscure and provocative passage from the first chapter of James, this practical presentation will encourage and challenge leaders while also offering a free resource designed to inspire renewed faith and help congregations guard against moving back to the way things used to be and instead to move forward to the impactful church God is calling us to become. Key action steps include:

  • LETTING GO of whats holding you back
  • TRUSTING GOD to embrace new ministry opportunities and empower dreams
  • RISING UP to face obstacles with resurrection faith

Pastor Jeff Linman has a passion for awakening kin-dom impacting dreams in the church. In 33 years as a pastor, he served 4 congregations In Illinois and Florida. 22 of his 33 years were spent in redevelopment settings, including 20 years as the founding and lead pastor of Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Orlando. Jeff is also the founder and coordinator of the Ignite the Church Conference, a grassroots church renewal conference held annually in Orlando. In the past 6 years, the conference has donated all of its proceeds -- over $26,000 -- to the ELCA Fund for Leaders. In his retirement, Jeff has launched two other church renewal initiatives, which he will also be sharing with us. Jeff is also an ELCA Coach and has been married to his wife Patti for 43 years. They have two married young adult children and became grandparents in October of 2021.

We invite you to bring a spirit of curiosity to these gatherings and to all aspects of your life. What are you noticing? Where is Spirit moving? How are you being invited to participate?
